Obama needs to appeal to the selfish
President Obama keeps letting Governor Romney keep repeating statements like "government is the problem" and that he will "get rid of regulations." All one needs to do is peruse the front page of today's paper to see the potential impact of this. Will we have fewer satellites providing data on storms, fewer psychological services for poor people who watch our children, less oversight for companies that produce our drugs and medical supplies, less regulation of risky financial transactions, fewer safeguards of the air and water from energy companies. Obama needs to speak to those who are more concerned with their own self-interest than the interests of society, for they are equally at risk in a Romney presidency. He should say "Those without job training and health care are more likely to commit crimes against you; you are more at risk from those who care for your children who cannot get the medical care they need; from both the preparation for and response to natural disasters; to the air you breathe and the water you drink; from poison in the drugs you take, the food you eat and the toys your children play with; from the collapse of our financial system."
